The Bolivian ram (mikrogeophagus altispinosus) is known under many common names: butterfly ram, Bolivian butterfly cichlid and ruby cichlid. Bolivian rams are a peaceful cichlid that will do well in a community tank. Unlike other ram species which prefer higher temperates, Bolivian rams thrive at more typical community tank temperatures of 76-80F.
